Zero-Tolerance Policy

Heartland Limousine Services LLC is committed to providing a safe and drug-free work environment for both our clients and employees. Due to the serious issue of drug abuse in the workplace, we are implementing the following policy for all current and future employees.

Prohibited Conduct

Heartland Limousine Services LLC explicitly prohibits:

  • The use, possession, solicitation, or sale of narcotics, illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription medication without a valid prescription on company or customer premises, or while performing job duties.
  • Being impaired or under the influence of legal or illegal drugs or alcohol outside company or customer premises if it negatively impacts work performance, safety, or the company’s reputation.
  • Possessing, using, soliciting, or selling drugs or alcohol outside company or customer premises if it adversely affects work performance, safety, or the company’s reputation.
  • Having any detectable amount of prohibited substances in an employee’s system while at work, on company or customer premises, or conducting company business. "Prohibited substances" include illegal drugs, alcohol, or prescription drugs not taken in accordance with a valid prescription.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

Heartland Limousine Services LLC may conduct drug and/or alcohol testing under the following circumstances:

  • Random Testing: Employees may be randomly selected for drug and/or alcohol testing at the company’s discretion.
  • For-Cause Testing: The company may require an employee to undergo testing if there is reasonable suspicion of drug or alcohol use. This includes, but is not limited to, evidence of substances on or near the employee, unusual behavior indicating impairment, poor work performance, or excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
  • Post-Accident Testing: Any employee involved in an on-the-job accident or injury under circumstances suggesting drug or alcohol influence may be required to undergo testing. This applies to employees who were injured, as well as those who may have contributed to the accident.

Consequences of Policy Violation

If an employee tests positive for drugs or alcohol outside of the employment context and the results indicate a violation of this policy, or if an employee refuses to submit to testing, they may face disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Employees will be given an opportunity to explain the circumstances before any final employment action is taken.

The chapter outlines requirements for operating authorities, drivers, and vehicles, covering aspects such as permitting, operational standards, and insurance obligations. It also emphasizes non-discrimination, city-wide service availability, and specific provisions for services at Dallas Love Field Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Notably, the chapter excludes certain services, including Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) vehicles, courtesy vehicles, and carpooling arrangements.
